7 Steps to Success on YouTube in 2024

Discover the Secrets to YouTube Success!

Today we're kicking off a series of articles on managing a YouTube channel for businesses of any kind looking to attract customers through promotion on this platform. In today's article, we'll discuss seven steps to quickly grow an audience and develop a YouTube channel. Let's agree that no matter how effective they may be, without your effort and dedication to channel management, they won't work, so let's get started!

Step One: "Understanding the Audience and Developing a Plan"

Ask yourself two questions. First: "Who am I creating content for?" Second: "How will my content help people?" By answering these questions, you can create a channel management plan, knowing exactly which audience to target. It's thanks to this step, for example, that we created and developed a channel for the "Meizu" brand: clearly identifying the target audience (football fans) and developing a plan to attract them (inviting a well-known announcer, interviewing sports figures, creating news episodes), we achieved rapid audience growth on the channel. You can see an example of our work here:

Step Two: "Search Bar"

Come up with a title for your video, but before that, study how interested people are in the topic you will be covering: enter keywords into the YouTube search bar (i.e., words that you think will help find your video in YouTube search, best describing the video's topic) in the title you've come up with and see how popular it is among viewers. Watch videos from competitor channels covering the same topic, study their distinctive features (duration, thumbnails, content), and draw conclusions for yourself.

By using these two steps, you can develop a clear audience engagement strategy even before starting the video shoot.

Step Three: "Filming"

Having completed the first two steps, you can proceed to filming the video developed with a clear plan and a clear strategy, filled with useful information and visually and audibly appealing. Now, you can move on to the fourth step.

Step Four: "Video Publication"

After perfecting the video through editing, it's ready for release, ensuring all quality criteria are met: the title is engaging, the thumbnail (video cover, "icon") is appealing, the description is filled out qualitatively, tags are added, and the video is added to a playlist. However, this is where many make a mistake: they neglect to check these criteria. This must be avoided because without them, your video will be harder to find, and it won't yield the desired results.

Step Five: "Promotion"

After releasing your video to the world, strive to get at least minimal initial views by resorting to advertising and promotion on other platforms: this could include email campaigns, advertising with other channels on the platform, or collaborations (joint videos or podcasts) with colleagues on the platform. Do everything possible to engage YouTube's algorithms: without this, your videos won't make it into recommendations. If you've completed the first four steps, this one practically does itself.

Step Six: "Analysis"

Your initial videos will require analysis, thorough but not overly strict – it can undermine your confidence. Review the videos and draw conclusions: did it reach the desired audience? How can it be improved? What are my gaps? How can I improve? Look at the views of the published videos, compare them, understanding which of the discussed topics is more interesting to the audience, which one should be developed.

Step Seven: "Repeat"

Try to apply these steps to your channel as often as possible: draw conclusions from the video views you've received, select the successful topics, and expand to other platforms. Use every opportunity for promotion: create YouTube Shorts, start new channels, learn to understand your audience. Break your videos into several short ones and publish them as ads on other platforms. The main thing is not to forget to repeat these steps.
