Stock Videos vs. AI Videos
What's better for your presentation video? Purchasing stock footage or generating videos using AI?
What's better for your presentation video? Purchasing stock footage or generating videos using AI?
It all depends on two key factors:
1. Do you need to build an emotional connection with your audience?
2. Does your script contain scenes that are difficult to visualize?
Emotional Connection:
Unfortunately, AI videos still give themselves away. Micro-movements, skin texture, and physics often aren't fully realistic. This makes it almost immediately recognizable as AI-generated content.
This undermines viewer trust. When viewers sense the visuals are fake, it can negatively impact their perception of your marketing message.
If building trust with your audience is important, it's better to use stock videos featuring real people.
For example, this presentation video uses entirely AI-generated clips:
All these shots could easily be found in stock libraries with graphics (like flying dollar signs) added. When presenting a financial product, viewers want to see and trust the people on screen, not an AI creation.
I believe the creators made a mistake using AI here.
In contrast, here's our stock-based video:
The "realism" of what's happening on screen is immediately apparent. Viewers instantly believe in the client's scale - oil rigs, factories, etc.
Complex Visualization:
However, stock footage has its limitations - you can't always find exact frames to match your script.
Example from the brand that made the AI video mentioned above:
This video discusses the future - such footage is rare in stock libraries, making AI use appropriate here. Yes, viewers might realize the video is generated, but the wow factor of the visuals and content will prevail. A robot with a sledgehammer on the moon surprises; a grandmother at a market doesn't.
In our video, there's also a scene you won't find in stock libraries - a drilling rig. We modeled this pipe entirely from scratch in 3D. Today, I might try recreating such a shot with AI and get client approval regarding technical realism.
Recommendation:
Regardless of the chosen option, we recommend including brief comments from your team in the video. This will immediately add weight to your video.
