Affordable Animated Video Production Services for Startups

A 2026 Guide

Video is one of the most important marketing tools for a startup. It convinces investors to put their money into your business, and it persuades your target audience to start using your product or service.

Honestly, most startups order videos a couple of times a quarter. Every time, the goal of the video changes, and because of that, the type of video and the pricing change too: from tens of thousands of dollars for live-action shoots to just a couple of thousand for animation. We specialize in creating high-impact videos, offering everything from live-action to affordable animated video production services for startups.

In this article, I’ll try to break down the pricing based on different types of videos.

The simplest type of video is a promo built from stock footage and templates. Take a look at our video for c1fund.

It’s assembled entirely from stock footage: we purchased licenses for all the clips on artlist.io and envato.com. We tweaked the color grading a bit, added a voiceover, and dropped in some music. Yes, of course, we bought the stock footage based on a script we wrote and with a specific logic in mind. This means a video editor was still heavily involved, carefully curating the best clips from a massive library. If you already have your own footage or need a quick turnaround, this is where affordable video editing services for startups really shine.

You can also find great motion graphics templates on these marketplaces. For example, look at these cool animated transitions or text titles. You’ll still need a motion designer to select and customize them, but it’s much easier than creating them from scratch.

The cost for this kind of video starts at around $1,800.

However, your goal might require a more complex approach: for example, you need to tell a cohesive visual story about your platform. For these purposes, 2D animation is a perfect fit. If you want a unique look tailored to your brand, you'll need custom video animation services for startups.

We made exactly this kind of video for our own agency needs. You can read the detailed case study here. What you need to understand about this format: the more elements you see on screen (icons, characters, background details), the more expensive it is. The more frequent the scene changes, the higher the price.

The logic is simple—more elements mean more work for the illustrator and animator.

This specific level of animation costs around $12,000.

But not everyone needs this level of dynamic pacing. In our case, a highly dynamic, fast-paced video was absolutely necessary to hook our target audience. Usually, for classic SaaS products, a pace that is twice as slow works just fine, bringing the price down to about $6,000. If you want to dive deeper into animation pricing, here is my detailed post.

I think you already know that AI video technologies are absolutely mind-blowing right now. Practically any 2D/3D animation style can be replicated. In this project, for example, we replicated the Pixar style.

The cost for this kind of video starts at $2,800. AI is a powerful tool, but it doesn’t always give you full control over the details. For instance, the previous video I mentioned (for the Bulgarian B2B service) is currently impossible to make purely with AI—there are simply too many details. AI cannot yet consistently replicate all the nuances and minor animation elements scene by scene.

With the Pixar style, it turned out great—since we only had a few characters, minor camera angle changes, and simple backgrounds, it resulted in a high-quality and stable image. You can read more about the process of creating this video here.

When you have a physical tech product, you’ll most likely need 3D animation. It can also be generated with AI, but if the product is super complex, it’s better to go with a classic 3D production pipeline.

At the 0:58 mark of this video, you can see the client's product that we recreated in 3D.

It was crucial for us to accurately convey the textures, materials, and colors of every single detail inside the insulin pump. That is only possible when working in professional 3D software. The cost of this video was around $9,000. Full case study here.

And as you can see, this video is an example of a hybrid approach—part of it is made from stock footage, and part is 3D animation. Like I said, every goal requires its own unique solution.

Of course, we shouldn't forget about live-action shoots. Yes, they are always the most expensive, but they skyrocket audience trust. Seeing you at work, hearing a message from your team, or watching customer testimonials massively boosts viewer response. There are so many AI fakes and spam out there right now that new startups often just need to show their faces and say, "Hey, we are real."

The simplest live-action videos with a nimble crew start at $15,000. The final price depends on several factors: how long the shoot takes, the locations, whether actors are needed (for example, in the video above, despite it being a real manufacturing facility, we cast an actor as the main character), and the lighting setups required for the location.

We always start our client conversations by deeply understanding the core objective. After that, we send over several relevant video examples that can solve that specific task across different budgets.
